Understanding Health Insurance Coverage

Many Floridians that are not eligible for Medicare have access to healthcare coverage through their employer. While many employers provide information to help employees understand their coverage, there are two helpful resources from the Florida Department of Financial Services to help consumers understand their health insurance.

Medicaid provides access to healthcare for low-income individuals who qualify. Applications for Medicaid and other services are taken at the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). To apply for Medicaid, call toll-free (866) 762-2237 or visit their Web site.

Florida KidCare is a health insurance program for children (by the State of Florida) that provides medical coverage at low or no cost, depending on family income. To find out more, call toll-free (888) 540-5437 or visit their Web site.
